In the Vineyards: This wine was produced from 13 year old vineyards.
The vineyard is situated on North facing slopes. The soil type is gravel and loam.
The vines are trellised and produce around 11 tons per hectare.
In the Cellar: The wine is pressed and the fermentation and maceration period takes 14 days. The wine then spent 6 months in French Oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: The De Waal Young Vines Merlot is a soft accessible wine, with juicy fruit flavours, predominantly black cherries on the nose which follows through on the palate. It has a good structure with juicy tannins.
