In the Vineyards: This wine was produced from trellised vineyards situated on warmer north
facing slopes. The soil type is Gravel & Loam. The vines are up to 30 years of age. These
vines produce 9 tons per hectare. The grapes were harvested on the 1st of March 2012.
In the Cellar: The pressing of the grapes and the fermentation period takes 14 days. The wine is then aged in French barrels for 10 months.
Tasting Notes: The De Waal Pinotage is a medium bodied wine with flavours of strawberries, ripe plums and cherries. The palate is rich, with layering’s of fruit. It has a lingering finish with well integrated tannins.
