Ormonde Private Cellar is situated on the West Coast of South Africa, where the rugged Darling hills roll and fall along the contours of a ancient granite intrusion. These molten rocks, forced from the earth to 300m above sea level, guard the Atlantic Ocean while banks of fog roll to the foot of the hills, blessing the vineyard with coolness and moisture.
Chenin Blanc is synonymous with the South African wine industry. Although the cultivar does not have the image of Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc a lot of old plantings do exist. Luckily for us we planted them on ideal terroir; cool climate with high altitude and in close proximity to the sea.
DESCRIPTION: This is an unwooded Chenin Blanc that was planted in ideal terroir, cool climate, high altitude and close proximity to the sea.
