Asara – The Splendid Steeple

The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness in the early morning to preserve their natural freshness. After rigorous sorting, they are gently destemmed and fermented in small batches. A three-day cold soak precedes fermentation at controlled temperatures of 25-28°C, with regular pump overs to enhance colour and tannin extraction.

Following fermentation, the wine undergoes extended skin contact and malolactic fermentation before aging in 300L French oak barrels for up to 18 months. The blend is carefully crafted from select barrels to achieve a wine of exceptional elegance, complexity, and depth – a true reflection of South African winemaking excellence.

Crafted from the finest fruit on the estate and matured in carefully selected barrels, The Splendid Steeple is a Super Tuscan-style blend that exemplifies winemaking artistry. Aromas of ripe blackberry, juicy plum, and red currant captivate the senses, interwoven with delicate floral notes and hints of black pepper spice. The palate reveals velvety tannins and a medley of flavours, including dark cherry, vibrant plum, and subtle mocha nuances. A lingering finish completes the experience, leaving an elegant impression of balance and depth.
