Niel Joubert – Reserve Cabernet Franc

The wine presents an opaque purple-black hue, immediately signaling its full-bodied nature and the high extraction levels achieved during winemaking. On the nose, it reveals complex aromas, starting with warm cinnamon and oak spice, followed by rich notes of Christmas cake, blackberry, black cherry, and dark plums. A subtle umami undertone adds depth, while hints of bell pepper and fine herbs provide a fresh, green element that enhances the aromatic profile. The palate is bold and muscular, with a broad structure that speaks to the wine’s power. The tannins are ripe and seamlessly integrated, balancing the wood and fruit components beautifully. Flavours of dark fruits dominate, with layers of tobacco, dark chocolate, and black cherry contributing to a rich and plush mouthfeel. The presence of new oak is evident but well-managed, providing a solid backbone without overpowering the fruit. The finish is distinctly dry and long-lasting, leaving lingering flavours of stewed black plums and berry compote that round off this impressive and robust wine.
